Emily & Jake's Magical Backyard Wedding | Aniwa, Wisconsin

Once upon a time — because with a fairy tale themed wedding, that's really the only way to start — Emily and Jake got married in a field in Aniwa, Wisconsin, and it was every bit as magical as it sounds.

Getting Ready

Before Emily even put her dress on, she walked over to help Jake with his tie. No first look, no seeing the dress early — just a sweet, calm moment between two people who were completely at ease with each other. These two were genuinely, effortlessly themselves all day long.

The Ceremony

Northern Wisconsin in September did not get the memo that it was supposed to feel like fall — it was warm — but the leaves were turning and the light was gorgeous so we'll allow it. The ceremony took place in a field on their property, and watching Emily and Jake meet at the end of the aisle and walk up together was one of our favorite moments of the entire day.

The Details

Bunches of carrots in mason jars for centerpieces. We're still thinking about it. Quirky, charming, and somehow absolutely perfect for the whimsical fairy tale vibe. Lawn games, a giant tent, casual dinner, and a DJ who kept the dance floor packed all night. And that first dance — clearly practiced, completely impressive, and stopped the whole room.

Golden Hour

As the sun set over their property northern Wisconsin put on an absolute show. The fields, the changing leaves, the light. Just perfect.
