Eric & Ashley’s Camp Kettlewood Wedding in East Troy, Wisconsin

When it came time to plan their wedding, there was one place that felt like right: Wisconsin.

They wanted their wedding day to be more than just a beautiful event. They wanted it to feel like Wisconsin—relaxed, nostalgic, a little playful, and centered around the things they loved most about the state. And there may not be a better place to bring that vision to life than Camp Kettlewood in East Troy.

Camp Kettlewood is a former Girl Scouts camp tucked into the Wisconsin countryside, and it gave Eric and Ashley the perfect setting for a wedding that felt like a weekend getaway with all of their favorite people.

And yes, there were cheese curds.

There were old fashioneds.

There was a Wisconsin fish fry for dinner.

And there were golf carts shuttling everyone around camp all weekend.

Basically, it was impossible not to feel like you were experiencing Wisconsin at its best.

A Wisconsin Camp Wedding at Camp Kettlewood

The day started with that classic Wisconsin uncertainty in the sky. It looked like it could rain at any moment, and everyone kept an eye on the clouds. Somehow, though, the rain mostly held off, giving us just enough dry weather to enjoy the incredible setting.

The ceremony took place out in a wide-open field overlooking a beautiful marsh, with a massive oak tree standing as the focal point. It was the kind of landscape that didn't need much decoration. The natural beauty of the property did most of the work.

There was something especially fitting about getting married in a place like this. Nothing felt overly formal or staged. It felt like a gathering, friends and family coming together in the middle of the woods and fields to celebrate two people they love.

And that's exactly what Eric and Ashley wanted.

Luna, the VIP Guest

Of course, no wedding recap would be complete without mentioning Luna.

At 14 years old, Luna has been part of Eric and Ashley's lives for a long time, so there was no question that she needed to be there for the wedding.

She showed up wearing the cutest little wedding day collar and, naturally, stole some of the spotlight.

Including your dog in your wedding can be one of those details that makes the day feel even more personal. Luna wasn't just there for a photo opportunity—she was there because she is part of their family. Those are the kinds of moments that make wedding photographs meaningful years later.

A Wedding That Felt Like Them

Some weddings are beautiful because of elaborate décor or a perfectly curated aesthetic. Eric and Ashley's wedding was beautiful because it felt completely authentic.

They chose a place they loved.

They brought together the people they loved.

They incorporated the food, drinks, music, and traditions that reminded them of Wisconsin.

They brought Luna.

They embraced the unpredictable weather.

And they celebrated in a way that felt less like putting on a wedding and more like inviting everyone they cared about into their world for a weekend.

That's what made their Camp Kettlewood wedding so special.
